It's not often that a cocktail (or anything really) is complex and crowd pleasing at the same time, and yet... The smokiness of the mezcal and the bitterness of the Suze are softened by the tropical flavors surrounding them, and the Black Tea syrup complements the recipe with a hint of tannin. In less pretentious terms: It tastes like grilled pineapple. Yum.
1.5 oz Mezcal (we used Casamigos!)
.5 oz Suze
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.75 oz Black Tea Syrup
1 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Red Bull Yellow Edition
2 dashes Bittercube Jamaican No. 1 Bitters
To Build Cocktail: Mix all ingredients in shaker with ice. Strain into rocks or collins glass over fresh ice. Garnish with marasca cherry or pineapple frond.
